Our story...
North Star Legacy Law was created to offer clients a legal experience that puts them at the center of the process. Our goal is to make the complexities of transferring assets from one generation to the next more palatable, and to make our client's interaction with the law less painful than nails on a chalkboard.
"If I go to law school, you can't die for three years..."
was part of a real conversation that happened between our founding attorney, Dustin Cesarek, and his late wife, Kim, in early 2017 when they were deciding the next steps for their family.
Kim had been living with metastatic breast cancer since 2012, and her disability insurance income had created an opportunity for Dustin to shift careers in his mid-30s. Kim laughed and said she couldn't promise to not die, but she would try her best.

Three years later Dustin graduated, was licensed, and became an attorney. It took another year for Kim to watch Dustin walk across the stage at his graduation commencement ceremony - thanks to a pandemic postponement. Kim died less than three weeks later, on June 2, 2021.

North Star Legacy Law was created out of necessity, as a way for Dustin to have flexibility while working and being present for Kim and their daughter. It continues as a legacy of all of those who have had a hand in our success, and to pay forward the good that has been given to us.
